The Power of Wireless Sensors

challange

To reduce the monitoring and maintenance efforts of large facilities, distributed wireless sensors can be used. But the installation of such sensor networks requires a lot of manual configuration which is more and more error-prone with an increased number of sensors.

solution

The edge gateway provides a way to add new sensors to the facility easily and establishes a link between the sensors and the cloud for remote analysis and control. But more than that, the gateway’s processing power is high enough to analyze the measurements already on the gateway. Self-learning algorithms are used to identify irregularities in the facility without the need to transfer every measurement to the cloud. Anyway, the edge gateway provides also a link to a cloud management platform that can be used to monitor and manage the gateway’s functionalities.
